About

Who we are & why we exist

BrewGrade is built for beginners. Everything else follows from that.

Most coffee gear reviews are written by people who already know what they're doing. They use jargon, assume knowledge, and skip over the questions beginners actually have. BrewGrade is different — it's written for the person who just bought their first bag of specialty coffee and doesn't know what a tamper is.

The problem we're solving

When you're new to home coffee, the buying decision is dominated by three things: Amazon reviews (which don't distinguish between a beginner's experience and an expert's), YouTube videos (which are long, inconsistent, and full of affiliate links), and the vague sense that the expensive option is probably the right one.

None of these help a beginner make a confident, informed decision. BrewGrade exists to fix that.

What we test

We buy the products we review (when possible) or use them extensively in real-world conditions. We test for the things beginners actually care about:

Our verdict format

Every review ends with a clear verdict: Buy or Skip. We don't hedge into "it depends" because beginners need a starting point, not a list of conditions. If we say Buy, it means the product earns its recommendation. If we say Skip, we tell you what to get instead.

Affiliate disclosure

We may earn a small commission when you buy through our affiliate links — at no additional cost to you. This doesn't change our verdicts. If a product is bad, we say so regardless of the commission.

What we're building

The review library is growing. We're starting with the products beginners ask about most — espresso machines, grinders, pour-over gear — and working outward. Every review follows the same format: specs, real-world testing, pros & cons, who it's for, and a straight verdict.
